Cheltenham in Edinburgh

For the first time in many years the cultural and unique capital city of Edinburgh will be host to the racing followers who have graced Cheltenham with their presence in very loyal fashion during the last decade. Pencil Laird and Skipper were the initial inspiration behind the phenomenon and due to hastily made last minute arrangements in year one, Bristol was to become the base camp for many an adventure, argument and £50 taxi ride home. Let us ride down memory lane in no particular order: Cannon organizes entry to an under 13 party/disco then calls in the law when failing to pull! How things have changed, the law are never required nowadays! can anyone remember the name of the venue. Skipper and laird room sharing, New meaning to the odd-couple. Bickering, drunkenness and a wardrobe full of shoes! Skipper up at  6am and Laird still sleeping at noon. Who can forget the cannon running away in a fury to the other side of the course only to return grinning with the mightiest wedge of cash ever seen. Aye Aye. Name the winner that day? Around this time every 3 years Clubber Lang appears re-invented although never looking older. On year one he was a novice to the racing game and knew very little. how times change, he now knows fuck all! Sean will appear religiously in grays Mill on Gold cup day bringing a fresh sense of perspective and some common sense on our return. Skipper by this time after hours of concentration and study will turn round and ask' What one are you on cannon!, The tramp, the Centaur, Brazil who we never see and Thommo who we saw last year! The rucksack was slaughtered but patero was pished and had stocked up tinnies for his mates on the train knowing the stress of the survey that hoddit and doddit were about to face. One with consumate patience and an analytical brain the other throwing it away after two minutes. I am the worst gambler closely followed by skipper. Cannon leads with laird progressing every year. My solace is lager and the odd buzz and fizz victory. I will blog every morning during cheltenham and may even get into twitter. First Patero nap of the day for tomorrow. Binocular cannot get beat!
